Be a part of a thriving applied developmental research team with a focus on the impact of early adversity on young children’s outcomes. We are currently accepting applications for a Community Research Associate who has interest in working with us on the national HBCD study. The HBCD study will be recruiting women during pregnancy and following their infants through the first five years of their lives. hbcdstudy.org This project aims to conduct multi-modal brain imaging (MRI, EEG) and Neurobehavioral assessment across the first years of life. Most importantly is the recruitment and retention of women to this study.
This full-time appointment will be for multiple years starting in January 2024, contingent on performance and sufficient funding. Under the mentorship of Dr. Brenda Jones Harden and colleagues, the community research associate will coordinate recruitment/retention for HBCD at the University of Maryland site.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating participant recruitment/retention and data collection in hospitals, clinics, and community-based settings, as well as in families’ homes
- Managing data (data organization, IRB submissions)
- Presenting to practitioner staff and community partners about research findings
- Conducting home observations and family interviews
- Supervising and mentoring research assistants
- Preparing publications and conference presentations
Qualifications:
- Bachlor's or Master's in Psychology, Human Development, Social Work, Public Health, Education, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
- Experience conducting community-based research with families from high-risk contexts
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate on a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with practitioners and families in communities
- Expertise in quantitative methodology
- Beginning track record of publication
- Excellent academic writing skills
