Data Management I
This talk demonstrates how to use many of Stata's data management commands to clean a dataset. Participants are shown how to convert numbers that have been stored as strings to numbers stored as numbers, how to convert dates stored as strings to formatted date variables, how to label variables and values, how to identify and replace unusual data, how to convert missing value codes to missing values, and how to identify duplicate records in a dataset.
Data Management II
This talk is a continuation of Data Management I. It includes topics such as importing data from the internet, appending and merging files, using frames to work with multiple datasets simultaneously, how to reshape data from "long" format to "wide" and vice-versa, how to use contract and collapse to create summary data, how to use egen to create new variables and how to use -by- and -if- to work with subsets of your data.
