The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) of the School of Medicine would like to partner with students from all of the UMB schools to host a Universitywide Latinx gala to celebrate Latinx success, recognize our graduating classes, and honor our Latinx faculty throughout UMB.
Nationwide, 20% of the U.S. population identifies as Latinx; however, only 4-6% of individuals in the majority of the professions represented in the UMB schools are Latinx, showcasing an immense need for more representation to better serve our community. This gala signifies the recognition of our current Latinx faculty and students who are or will go into these workforces and contribute to the increase in this percentage.
The UMB Latinx Gala is set for Friday April 5, 2024, and we need all the help in order to have this event be a success! If interested in joining one of the planning committees, please fill out this form by Nov. 24 at 11:59 p.m. (more information included on the form).
