Purpose: This study aims to understand the relationship among cognitive impairments and their impact on speech/language/dialogue.

Are you eligible? We are looking for adults 55 years and older, living in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., metro areas, who are native speakers of English or non-native speakers but can speak English fluently and who either have cognitive impairments or are healthy and have no unusual memory or thinking issues.

Participants will be asked to participate in multiple study sessions in which they will be asked to chat with researchers and perform tasks related to memory, language, attention, and orientation. Each study session will last for about 45 minutes.

Location:

(1) A quiet room in your home or

(2) A user study lab at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) or

(3) A private room at a public place (e.g., a reserved room in a library)

Participants will receive:

(1) $30 for time and effort plus $10 for parking if they drive to UMBC. Participants will be receiving an additional $10 if another driver is needed to go to UMBC (per session)

(2) Cognitive impairment screening (per session)
