On March 15, the Graduate Program in Life Sciences (GPILS) of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) hosted Ivan Oransky, MD, co-founder of the Retraction Watch website, at Health Sciences Research Facility II for a panel on “The Fine Line Between Sloppiness and Scientific Misconduct.”

Retraction Watch is a blog that reports on retractions of scientific papers and other related topics.

Stephan Vigues, PhD, research integrity officer and director of UMB’s Research Integrity Office, also was featured as a speaker on the panel. The discussion was facilitated by Renee Cockerham, PhD, program manager, Office of Postdoctoral Scholars (OPS), UMSOM.

The program, which focused on scientific misconduct and the resources needed to avoid it, is part of the GPILS, OPS, and Center for Vascular and Inflammatory Diseases' Rigor and Reproducibility Series.
