Hispanic Heritage Month

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion celebrates America’s rich Hispanic history and culture with National Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. Hispanic Heritage Month, established on Sept. 15, 1968, celebrates the shared anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries – Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The independence of Mexico, Chile, and Belize also occurred during this 30-day period.

The 2023 theme for Hispanic Heritage Month is “Prosperity, Power, and Progress: recognizing the significant achievements of the Hispanic community in the economic and political industries.” During Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize the contributions and the important presence of Hispanic and Latin Americans on our campus, in our communities, and around the United States.
