UMSON is a part of the Pan American Nursing & Midwifery Collaborating Centers (PANMCC), a consortium of 16 schools throughout the Americas collaborating to support the World Health Organization (WHO).

A joint letter was signed by PANMCC members encouraging the WHO to assign a new chief nursing officer when Elizabeth Iro's term was complete, and our voices were heard!

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of WHO wrote in a letter to us, "I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the Pan-American nursing and Midwifery WHO Collaborating Centers for strengthening nursing and midwifery in the region of the Americas and I look forward to continuing this productive relationship."

We warmly welcome Dr. Amelia Tuipolutu as the new Chief Nursing Office for WHO!
