Through free outreach and education programs, the Hippodrome Foundation, Inc., (HFI) the nonprofit partner of the Hippodrome Theatre, works to introduce Maryland students and community members to the arts and all of the assets of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center.
By exposing young people to new possibilities, HFI is raising the curtain on opportunity. And now it is offering an opportunity for summer 2023 for rising sixth-, seventh-, or eighth-grade students of UMB employees.
HFI has worked with UMB for many years and is pleased to offer another year of arts enrichment for students this coming summer. HFI will again be offering Camp Hippodrome and invites your child to participate in ONE of our free week-long sessions.
The camp will be offered in-person at the Hippodrome Theatre on Eutaw Street, and masks will not be required for campers and staff. However, all COVID-19 restrictions are subject to change, and HFI will adjust this policy if needed.
In 2023, HFI will offer two one-week sessions of our Camp Hippodrome:
- Session 1: June 26– June 30
- This session ends on Friday, with a finale performance for family and friends on June 30 at 2 p.m.
- Session 2: July 17– July 21
- This session ends on Friday, with a finale performance for family and friends on July 21 at 2 p.m.
Please note: This is a Monday through Friday (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) commitment, and your child must be able to attend all days of the session. (No exceptions because this is a cumulative program!) Students must arrive and be picked up on time.
HFI is offering this opportunity on a first-come, first-served basis, with eight spots held for children of UMB employees (four for each week).
HFI will be welcoming back camp directors Caitlin Bell and Becky Mossing. Activities will include theater, dance, music, vocals and more. Students who participate will be expected to attend every day, arrive on time, and stay until camp is finished for the day. Please do not sign up unless you know your child can fully participate every day!
