The 1807 Commission of Slavery and Racism was formed in 2021 and tasked with evaluating research into the names of buildings at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and providing recommendations on appropriate reparative actions.

Please join the UMB community June 26 at 4 p.m. for a virtual discussion to learn about History Associates’ Phase 1 findings in the company’s research into the University’s connection to slavery and racism.

Chief Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer and Vice President Diane Forbes Berthoud, PhD, MA, will join the History Associates representatives to present and discuss the findings.

As we move forward with this important initiative, we look forward to the diversity of perspectives you will bring to the discussion. Your input will be valuable. We hope you can join us.
