Apply Now

Grid Pitch is a showcase that allows UMB students to pitch their innovative business ideas to a panel of experts and investors in the entrepreneurial community. Accepted participants will receive six weeks of one-on-one coaching and mentoring from an experienced entrepreneur or business expert. The program culminates in a pitch showcase on April 18 at the Grid in the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL).

Applications close on Feb. 9.

If you have questions about Grid Pitch, we've created a short FAQ. If you have any additional questions, email taylor.deboer@umaryland.edu.

Am I eligible to apply?

If you are a current UMB student or someone on your team is a current UMB student, the answer is yes.

Should I apply as Vision or Venture?

That depends on your project. Vision is for individuals with an idea, but you have not yet begun the journey of implementation. Venture applicants should have begun the process of implementation and have a more fleshed-out concept. Email taylor.deboer@umaryland.edu if you have questions about how you qualify.

How does the mentor process work?

If you are accepted, our review committee pairs you with a mentor who you will meet with regularly (in person or virtually) for five weeks to develop your pitch deck and work to improve your concept and business model.

Is the Grid Pitch showcase on April 18 virtual or in person?

The showcase will be in person at the Grid on the third floor of the HSHSL at 601 W. Lombard St. in Baltimore. Additionally, participants will also be asked to submit a recorded pitch, which will be shared on the Grid website to be viewed asynchronously.
