Climate change is affecting everyone. And it will take everybody working together to develop meaningful solutions.
Come spend a day of active learning with national climate change and health equity thought leaders, University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and University of Maryland, College Park faculty and students, and local climate nonprofit and community groups.
Lunchtime Keynote Speaker:
John Balbus, MD, MPH, director, Office of Climate Change and Health Equity, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Balbus is the director of the new Office of Climate Change and Health Equity within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health and the deputy assistant secretary for climate change and health equity. A physician and public health professional with more than 25 years of experience working on the health implications of climate change, he has served as Department of Health and Human Services principal to the U.S. Global Change Research Program and co-chair of the working group on Climate Change and Human Health for the U.S. Global Change Research Program since he joined the federal government in 2009. Before joining the new office, Balbus served as senior advisor for public health to the director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
