‘Conflict Works’: Workplace Mediation Service Celebrates Five Years
August 21, 2024It’s time to celebrate! This year, the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Workplace Mediation Service (WMS) is celebrating its five-year anniversary.
The WMS team loves being part of the UMB community and using mediation to help employees address work-related conflict. WMS started in September 2019 (see us when we started) and has grown and developed in multiple ways, including:
- Serving more employees
- Growing our team of mediators and apprentice mediators
- Adding to the diversity of our mediator roster
- Expanding our mediator skills and techniques
- Building relationships with other UMB resolution resources
- Offering discovery chats to support more effective communication at work
While we have grown, we have remained consistent in our commitment to provide a free, confidential, non-judgmental, and voluntary service. Thank you, UMB, for entrusting us with your work-related situations.
To celebrate our milestone, this year, starting in October we will host a variety of special events and share resources centered on the theme “Conflict Works.” You will have the chance to participate in interactive workshops and other events to equip you with practical communication and conflict management skills and help you better understand mediation and how you can benefit from it. Plus, we want you to meet our wonderful mediators.
Cheers to five years of turning conflicts into opportunities. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you.
