Continuing Medical Education Advisory Committee Volunteer Members Needed
March 08, 2024The University of Mayland School of Medicine (UMSOM) Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (OFAPD) is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality, innovative continuing medical education (CME) activities for postgraduate physicians that promote lifelong learning and support efforts to maintain and enhance competence in patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communications skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice. The CME Program is responsible for ensuring that these activities meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
The OFAPD is seeking individuals to join our Continuing Medical Education (CME) Advisory Committee. The advisory committee serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information on CME educational activities and give guidance on the strategic direction of the CME program. The advisory committee does not have formal authority to approve CME educational activities or govern the CME program.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a member of the CME Advisory Committee, you will be responsible for the following:
- Reviewing three to five CME applications annually.
- Participating in the annual CME Advisory Committee meeting conducted between October and November.
- Potentially contributing to the creation of essential documentation for the ACCME reaccreditation.
- Keeping abreast of accreditation requirements and guidelines pertinent to CME accreditation.
- Reviewing the CME Mission Statement and recommending revisions.
