knee showing red pain

A research team at the University of Maryland, Baltimore is conducting a study to learn how a common knee pain condition called patellofemoral pain impacts movement and sensation. Your sensitivity to pressure and pinprick stimuli will be assessed. We will also collect data from the electrical activity in your brain using EEG while you perform a series of squat tasks.

You may qualify for this study if:

  • You have pain behind or around your kneecap on one side for at least three months.
  • Are between 21 and 65 years of age
  • Able to speak, read, and write English

These tests will take place at the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (PTRS), 100 Penn St., Baltimore. Parking will be complementary and is in the garage immediately adjacent to the PTRS building. If you choose to participate in this study, and you are eligible, you will be compensated at the end of the study. Also, your participation is entirely voluntary.
