Dayvon Love

Feb. 15, Noon-1:30 p.m.

SMC Campus Center, Elm Room B

The President’s Symposium on Feb. 15 will feature Baltimore-based political organizer Dayvon Love, who will discuss how UMB can serve the surrounding West Baltimore community without the dehumanization of Black people. This concept was developed in his recent paper, “When Baltimore Awakens,” which explores how white supremacy is embedded within the human and social service sector in Baltimore City.

Love is the co-founder and director of public policy for Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, a grassroots think-tank that advances the public policy interests of Black people. He is the author of “Worse Than Trump: The American Plantation” and the co-author of “The Black Book: Reflections from the Baltimore Grassroots.”

Following the event, a light reception will be served.
