Summer fun on eutaw with graphic of the sun and a beach and umbrella and beach ball

The first week of Embrace Vibrancy on Eutaw Street featured a community art project, family-friendly music, yoga, and hand dancing.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) EMBRACE Initiative was on the lower plaza next to Lexington Market from Tuesday, July 9, to Thursday, July 11. All week, DJ Romey Rome, a 15-year-old graduate of our community partner, HeartSmiles, played music for everyone! Check out HeartSmiles’ programs here.

On Tuesday, we did yoga with Creative Nomads. We also welcomed all talents to create a community art project with Creative Nomads. Please see information about their programs here.

Wednesday, we had Hand Dancing with Steppin with Mariska!

We also had community partners on-site. St. Vincent de Paul Head Start helped families with young children enroll in Head Start.

The Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore shared information about resources to help achieve and maintain homeownership. They provided educational resources, information on their specialized financial programs, and support systems for Baltimore households.

On Tuesday and Thursday, UMB Police and Public Safety’s comfort K-9, Poe, brought a smile to many faces.

We also had fun and games like cornhole, hopscotch, and bubbles, and, of course, ice cream.

The event will continue from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through Aug. 22.

Students, faculty, and staff, let your voice be heard!
