As we approach Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 20, we reflect on the legacy of Dr. King and the ongoing work needed to build a more just and equitable society. This day provides us with an important opportunity to honor Dr. King’s vision of equality and justice, while also acknowledging the ongoing journey toward racial healing and reconciliation.

The National Day of Racial Healing, observed the following Tuesday, Jan. 21, is a time to contemplate our shared values and create the blueprint together for #HowWeHeal from the effects of racism. Launched in 2017 by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, this day is an opportunity to bring all people together and inspire collective action to build common ground for a more just and equitable world.

In honor of these days of reflection and action, we invite you to take part in these events at UMB and in the community. Together we commit, together we act.
