The University of Maryland School of Medicine's Center for Advanced Research Training and Innovation (CARTI), in partnership with the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, announces the launch of a new annual Distinguished Research Lecture Series.

The inaugural lecture will be held Friday, May 17, at 8 a.m. in the Shock Trauma Auditorium and will be given by 2022 Lasker Award winner Yuk-Ming Dennis Lo, DM, DPhil, chairman and Li Ka Shing Professor of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. A virtual option will also be available.

The title of the lecture is “Creating Paradigm Shifts in Molecular Diagnostics Through Circulating Fetal DNA.”

A continental breakfast will be provided.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand the importance of resilience in academic research
  2. Understand the utility of cell-free and circulating fetal DNA
  3. Understand the preclinical process of developing a molecular diagnostic 

Accreditation: The University of Maryland School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation: The University of Maryland School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
