Hands making heart signs

March is Women’s History Month, with International Women’s Day observed Friday, March 8.

This is a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of women throughout history and across the globe. Here at UMSON, we proudly join the chorus of voices honoring the resilience, achievements, and indomitable spirit of women from all walks of life.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, "Inspire Inclusion," resonates deeply as we not only reflect on the past, but also look toward the future with hope and determination. Let us amplify the voices of women whose stories have been silenced, uplift those who continue to face barriers, and empower the next generation of trailblazers.

Join us on March 28 for a special Lunch and Learn, celebrating the intersection of Women’s History Month and Disability Awareness Month. We will be joined by Jeiri Flores, an inspiring disability rights advocate who will share her powerful journey as a woman of color living with a disability. Through her compelling narrative, she will illustrate the intersectionality of her identity and shed light on the unique challenges and triumphs she has encountered along the way.

This event will be hybrid, providing attendees with the flexibility to participate virtually or in person.

Time: 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. Program begins promptly at noon.
Location: Room 580; and online.
