The President’s Symposium on March 4 will feature Samuel Jordan, president of the Baltimore Transit Equity Coalition and executive director of the Innovative Housing Institute. Jordan will discuss how structural racism impacts public transit and housing policies in Baltimore, and how UMB can support the development of equitable, reliable, and sustainable transit and housing initiatives for racially and economically integrated communities.  

Jordan’s experience includes 12 years of leading programs and collective action in housing, health care, and transit equity within Baltimore. In addition to his current roles, Jordan has served as the community housing program director for Midtown-Edmondson Community Organization and as senior advisor to the president of the Washington, D.C.-wide Housing and Urban Development-certified Resident Advisory Board.

The President’s Symposium is an annual series focused on a topic selected by UMB President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS. This year’s topic is "Near-Campus Vibrancy" and focuses on how UMB can positively contribute to near-campus vibrancy through the investment of resources and strategic initiatives.
