Newly hired full-time faculty members of UMSON may be eligible for the New Nursing Faculty Fellowship (NNFF) awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

To be eligible, applicants must be working in a teaching capacity and have been offered employment after July 1, 2023, and begun their employment by the fall semester 2024. Faculty are not eligible if they have previously received this grant at another institution. In addition, faculty who have received funding through Nurse Educator Doctoral Grants, Hal and Jo Cohen Graduate Nurse Faculty Scholarships, or the Cohen Scholars Program are not eligible. Awards are made for a period of five years, at $10,000 per year or as funding permits, provided the recipient remains in good standing as a full-time faculty member.

All nominations for the NNFF must be submitted by the dean’s office by the Aug. 31 deadline. Potential nominees should contact Deborah Prout at prout@umaryland.edu promptly to confirm eligibility and review required materials.
