Characteristics and outcomes of exiting SNAP households in Maryland, 2010 through 2020, by Jessica Gagliardi, Lauren A. Hall, Letitia Logan Passarella. University of Maryland School of Social Work

The Family Welfare Research & Training Group (FWRTG) research team, part of School of Social Work, is pleased to share a novel report on Maryland households that leave the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Federal-level SNAP participation dynamics research typically utilizes survey and quality control samples; however, research utilizing administrative data is rare, despite an increased interest among state and federal stakeholders.

This report begins to fill the knowledge gap on exiting SNAP households by utilizing administrative records to describe the characteristics and outcomes of nearly 845,000 SNAP households that left Maryland's food assistance program between state fiscal years 2011 and 2020.
