Nurse Educator Doctoral Grants (NEDG) for Practice and Dissertation Research
September 06, 2024Nominations are open for the Nursing Educator Doctoral Grants (NEDG) overseen by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).
Current full-time nurse faculty members enrolled in PhD, DNP, or EdD programs who are engaged in their dissertation or capstone projects during the current academic year and will graduate within the next two years are potentially eligible. Studies may be part time or full time at a Maryland or out-of-state institution. Faculty who completed a doctoral degree as of May 1 of the previous year or later may also be eligible.
Payment of student loan debt and tuition are priority uses of the funds. Application requires detailed budget information and documentation related to existing loans.
There is a service requirement to teach full-time in a Maryland nursing program for each year of the award. Note: those who have received other MHEC/NSP II faculty awards with service requirements (e.g., New Nurse Faculty Fellowship and others) must have completed that service requirement in order to apply for the NEDG.
All nominations must be made by the Dean's Office. Qualifying faculty or those with questions should contact Deborah Prout at prout@umaryland.edu promptly. UMSON must submit nominations by Sept. 30.
