Participants Needed for Research Study: Parents and Teen Siblings of Youth with Serious Illnesses or Medical Complexity
July 19, 2024We are interested in learning from teen siblings and parents of children with serious illness and medical complexity about their needs, preferences, and challenges related to family communication.
Siblings ages 12 - 17 and a parent are eligible if they live together and with the child with a serious illness at least part time and can speak English or Spanish.
Being part of the study includes completing a few surveys that take about 10 minutes for siblings and 20 minutes for parents. If interested, siblings and parents can complete a separate interview with the nurses running the study.
Location
- Electronic and virtual participation (phone or Zoom)
- In-person participation is available if your child is cared for at the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital.
Are You Eligible?
- Parent (18-plus years old) and sibling (12 - 17 years old) of a child with a serious illness or medical complexity
- English or Spanish speaking
