2024 Presidential Election

As we approach the Nov. 5 presidential election, it's natural to feel a mix of emotions, including stress and anxiety. This period can be particularly intense, given the significant impact elections can have on our lives and communities.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) wants to encourage everyone who works here to prioritize your mental well-being during this time. It’s important to take breaks from the news and social media, engage in activities that bring you joy, and talk about your feelings with trusted friends or family.

To support you during this time, Human Resource Services (HRS) is offering three days of drop-in counseling sessions where you can speak with a trained professional in a safe and confidential environment. These sessions are a great opportunity to discuss your feelings and concerns or to simply to talk things through.

Here are details of the drop-in sessions, all to be held at HRS offices on the third floor of the Lexington Building at 620 W. Lexington St.:

  • Session 1: Wednesday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Room 03-110
  • Session 2: Thursday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Room 03-143
  • Session 3: Monday, Nov. 11, Noon to 3 p.m., Room 03-110

HRS encourages all employees to take advantage of this service. And if you or a member of your household needs additional support, please reach out to our Employee Assistance Program, which provides confidential counseling, expert guidance, and valuable resources. It offers 24/7 live assistance by calling 855-410-7628.
