Physical exercise at a gym and Computer-based memory exercises

The University of Maryland School of Medicine's Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine is conducting a study to determine whether a computer-memory training program and physical exercise can be helpful.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Speak English
  • Are 50-80 years old
  • Have memory decline
  • Have a home computer and internet access OR can come in to use our computers for the brain exercise 
  • Meet other study criteria

What procedures will be done?

  • A screening visit that includes physical and neurological exams and Exercise Stress test (GXT)
  • Blood testing, memory and cognitive testing, and a brain MRI scan
  • Cognitive (five to eight weeks) or exercise training (three times/week for 12 weeks), or both types of training.
