Richard Barth and Colleagues Publish on ‘The Stark Implications of Abolishing Child Welfare’

Professor Richard Barth, PhD, MSW, is an author of a recent paper in the Journal of Child and Family Social Work countering the vague and dangerous claims that child welfare abolition is a remotely functional way to safeguard the well-being of children and is necessary to support families.
The first author, Antonio Garcia, PhD, MSW, is a former child welfare caseworker, the Buckhorn Professor of Child Welfare at the University of Kentucky, and a Robert Wood Johnson Fellow. The authors list includes colleagues from five universities — the majority are members of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare.
