In a convergence of mentorship and insight, the President's Student Leadership Institute brings together a select group of motivated students with UMB’s senior leaders. The primary objective is to foster candid, small-group discussions exploring UMB’s core values and how they can be incorporated into academic and professional identities.

Students will gather in intimate circles with UMB’s senior leadership during this event. Through open-ended questions and shared stories, students will delve into topics surrounding UMB’s core values of Respect and Integrity, Well-Being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery. As students and leaders embrace the opportunity for genuine connection, they will coalesce around UMB’s shared core values, exploring ways they can be incorporated into everyday life.

This session at noon on April 11 will feature UMB's senior vice president for external relations, Jennifer B. Litchman, MA. Litchman assumed this role Jan. 5, 2018, expanding her existing responsibilities. In this capacity, she oversees communications and public affairs, government affairs, and community engagement. Litchman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina and a master's degree in public communication from American University. Her career spans Capitol Hill, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the Business Roundtable, where she managed a national media launch featuring Major League Baseball stars. Joining UMB in 1999, she progressed to assistant dean at the School of Medicine, handling various responsibilities. Over the years, she held roles such as special assistant to the president, interim chief communications officer, and vice president. Litchman, a Maryland “Top 100 Women” awardee, lives in Annapolis and is involved in various boards and advisory roles.

Food will be provided at the event.
