School of Medicine professor Amal Mattu, MD, gives his talk at Convocation 2023.

As we prepare for the Fall 2024 Convocation ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 12, we are excited to invite nominations for distinguished individuals to serve as one of our three speakers for TED-style talks. The convocation speakers play a vital role in inspiring and motivating students, faculty, and staff as they embark on a new year.

We welcome nominations of individuals who embody the core values of our University community and have made contributions to their respective fields. Whether you are a renowned scholar, visionary leader, accomplished professional, or influential figure in public service, we seek individuals whose insights will resonate with our University community and inspire us to make a positive impact in the community and beyond. If this describes you, we encourage you to nominate yourself for this opportunity. For an example of what we are looking for, see the talk from School of Medicine professor Amal Mattu, MD, at Convocation 2023.

You may submit your nomination by sending an email to provost@umaryland.edu no later than May 1, 2024. A case will be created on your behalf in Interfolio, and you will be provided with steps on how to complete your nomination packet.

The convocation speaker selection committee will carefully review all nominations and consider each candidate's qualifications, relevance, and potential to inspire our students, faculty, and staff. We appreciate your participation in this important process and look forward to receiving your nominations.
