ICTR 2024 Scholars

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) wishes to congratulate the awardees of the 2024 round of applications for the K Mentored Career Development Awards and T32 Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Clinical Research Training Awards! Junior faculty, predoctoral students, and postdoctoral fellows from all seven UMB schools (Dentistry, Graduate Studies, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Social Work) as well as University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) were invited to apply for this award.

The T32 Training Program is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) program. Funding for two predoctoral awardees is provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA). Two additional predoctoral awardees from UMCP were funded internally by the ICTR and the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State (MPower) and one postdoctoral awardee. The purpose of the T32 awards is to support the training of biomedical, behavioral, and clinical researchers through individual training across all UMB schools and UMCP.

UMB K awards are designed to develop the next generation of clinical investigators, guiding scholars toward independent clinical research careers. The UMB K program provides mentored career development to outstanding junior faculty who have recently completed professional training and are performing high-impact translational and/or clinical research. Scholars receive up to three years of support with access to multidisciplinary mentorship, formal coursework, and professional development opportunities. This year we have three new internally funded K awardees. Two UMB awardees are funded by UMB/ICTR and one UMB/UMCP internal K awardee is institutionally funded by the ICTR and MPower.

The UMB ICTR K Mentored Career Development Program is led by the co-directors Wilbur Chen, MD, MS, and Erin Golembewski, PhD, as well as associate director Graziela Kalil, PharmD.

The UMB ICTR T32 Clinical Research Training Program is led by the director, Luana Colloca, MD, PhD, MS, and associate directors Jean-Pierre Raufman, MD, and Graziela Kalil, PharmD.
