UMSON Celebrates National Native American Heritage Month
November 01, 2024This November we take the opportunity to recognize and honor the heritage and contributions of indigenous peoples. National Native American Heritage Month was first recognized in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush and serves as a time to celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, and significant contributions of Native Americans throughout history.
As we strive to provide cultural competence in healthcare, understanding and respecting the traditions and beliefs of indigenous communities can enhance our ability to provide holistic and effective care to all patients.
We encourage everyone to engage in the following educational offerings that deepen our understanding of Native American heritage and its impact on health and wellness.
