USG Faculty Tap Into Their Inner "Swifty" as Creative Teaching Tool
November 01, 2024The pediatric nursing team from the Universities of Shady Grove channeled their inner “Swifty” to provide students with an interactive review of Pediatric Health.
Andrea Peters, MS, RN, CNL (GTA), Rebecca Weston, Ed.D, MSN, RN, CNE, and Kelly Bates, DNP, FNP-BC, (pictured left to right) creatively engaged pediatric students at the Universities at Shady Grove with an interactive and memorable review of pediatric health. By channeling their inner "Swifty" spirit, they demonstrated their dedication to making pediatric nursing concepts more accessible, memorable and enjoyable for UMSON students. Their playful motto of “a lot to teach at the moment,” set the tone for an innovative learning experience.
The 2022 nursing curriculum revision includes 2-credit specialty courses for pediatrics, reproductive health, and psychiatric/mental health, and faculty across both campuses have embraced creative approaches to deliver this vital content. This dynamic pediatric team’s energy and innovative methods promise to leave a lasting impact on future pediatric health care professionals, and reminds us that innovative teaching never goes out of… Style.
