List of Firsts: Innovations Associated with UMB

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has updated its “List of Firsts” fact sheet, which features a school-by-school look at innovations that are associated with UMB.

For instance, did you know that  in 1819, the first lectures on dentistry in the United States were delivered by Horace Henry Hayden, co-founder of the School of Dentistry?

Or that in 1961, UMB became the first and only urban campus in the United States to serve the professions of law, health science, and social welfare?

Or that in 2003, the Francis King Carey School of Law became the first U.S. law school to offer a curricular program on the impact of gender in the legal profession?

You can see these and other interesting UMB firsts by downloading the List of Firsts PDF.
