Research Day seeks to highlight social justice in all aspects of research including forms of knowledge, methodologies, ownership, and dissemination. Join us for a day of insightful presentations, interactive discussions, and a poster session.

Breakout Group A / Justice in Research Design: Knowledge Production and Scholarship 

Objectives 

  • Relate research design to social justice.  
  • Identify and manage burdens and benefits for community partners in research design.  
  • Understand the implications of methodological hierarchies for knowledge production, scholarship, and careers.   
  • Collaborate with community groups.

  • Engage with the underlying motivations and obligations to conduct just research as a public university that serves the community and trains future professionals.  
  • Consider the equity and well-being of those we work with.  
  • Question how our research facilitates and impedes our ability to carry out these obligations. 
  • Reflect and learn with and from our colleagues, students, alumni, and communities. 
  • Engage with individuals from diverse perspectives and roles in dialogue on social justice in research.
