As approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission on Jan. 8, the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) will begin offering a post-baccalaureate Certificate in Real-World Data and Pragmatic Research (RWD/PR) program as of fall 2025.
In an ongoing implementation project (NSP II-21-117, UMNursing Care Coordination Implementation Collaborative [CCIC], 2020 - 2025), UMSON identified a need to increase student expertise in managing RWD from different sources and foster multidisciplinary student collaboration to understand the data and ensure plausibility and feasibility.
The RWD/PR post-baccalaureate certificate will (1) expand curricular content by adding pragmatic research designs and methods that can be directly applied to practice; (2) build analysis skills to work on RWD; and (3) promote research in practice using data from various clinical and health service sources.
