BERC

The Baltimore Education Research Consortium (BERC) is a research practice-partnership between institutions of higher education in Maryland, Baltimore City Public Schools, organizations that serve families and children in Baltimore City, and and other civic and community partners. BERC’s mission is to conduct and disseminate rigorous long- and short-term strategic data analysis and research for the benefit of the children and families of Baltimore City. BERC research projects address questions of critical importance to research and practice so that school system leaders, partners, and other stakeholders will then be well positioned to use findings to move conversations forward, design strategic and practical responses to challenges that may be highlighted by the research, advocate for resources, and capitalize upon promising practices or levers for positive change identified by the research.

All research proposed to be conducted with BERC data is reviewed by the BERC Research Board. To learn more, visit https://baltimore-berc.org/for-researchers/.

The University of Maryland School of Social Work representative on the BERC Research Board is Dr. Bess A. Rose, Staff Statistician. If you have any questions about BERC or the process of applying to use BERC data for a research project, please contact her at bess.rose@ssw.umaryland.edu.
