Updates: Essential Experiential Education: A Passport to Practice
September 12, 2025As leads for the E3:P2 task force, Susan Bindon and Dawn Mueller-Burke welcome and encourage all faculty to participate in our American Association of Colleges of Nurses (AACN) Essentials Implementation team (E3:P2) as we strive to fully integrate competency-based education (CBE.)
Please visit E3:P2 TEAMS (SharePoint access) for information and resources. You will find our Welcome tab with Zoom links to our monthly meetings and TSA Prechecks. There are many resources, including:
- Essentialized Syllabi Template
- Essentialized Syllabi Curriculum Committee Process Form
- Signature Assignments and Competency Language.
To foster open dialogue and provide ongoing support, we offer the following:
- E3:P2 Monthly Meetings: Join us on the first Monday of each month from 1 - 3 p.m. in Room 670 (in person preferred) or via Zoom for a collaborative discussion. We focus on key updates and a faculty development component the first hour, reserving the second hour for subgroup work.
- Individual Consultations: We welcome individual consultations during our weekly TSA Precheck Zoom on Friday mornings, 9 - 10 a.m., or you can schedule a meeting at your convenience to discuss "essentializing" your syllabus or any other curricular/CBE-related matters.
- Key Update: As faculty gain curriculum committee approval of their "essentialized" syllabi, we will meet with the academic deans and curriculum committee chairs to determine the process for migrating them to PRISM for tagging and tracking of competencies. We will then expand the training to course directors and other key members for ongoing competency and assessment attribute tracking.
Thank you for your dedication to advancing excellence in nursing education at UMSON!
