The Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement is proud to introduce the FIRST Program, a new initiative designed to help first-year students thrive during one of the most pivotal times in their academic journey. Research shows that the first year of college is critical for student success, yet many students face challenges in navigating campus resources and building connections.

The FIRST Program pairs first-year students with experienced peers to create meaningful relationships that foster trust, empathy, and accountability. Through regular interactions and coaching-informed conversations, mentors provide guidance on academics, campus life, and personal growth. These structured connections are proven to enhance students’ sense of belonging and improve retention.

FIRST is more than mentorship; it’s a movement toward shared success and community connection.
