During the first days of the Trump

Administration, many of the actions taken and nominees for key positions reflect a focus on the goals contained in the document sponsored by the Heritage Foundation called Project 2025.

Designed as a resource for the entire social work community, we have begun a new initiative called Policy Briefs. These articles will offer clear, nonpartisan insights into policy shifts, their impact on the profession, and guidance for practitioners, educators, and advocates. Grounded in social work values, each brief translates complex policy developments into actionable knowledge, equipping professionals with the tools to navigate an evolving landscape with confidence and clarity.

In this feature, we invited Dr. Tisa Silver Canady, Founder and Executive Director of the Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness, to answer a series of questions about how this project may affect student’s ability to borrow money to pay for advanced degrees.
