Join the Office of Strategic Engagement and Impact on Monday, Sept. 29, for an engaging and transformative experience where we will explore UMB’s Core Values and how we can put them to action. This unique professional development opportunity will be facilitated by Stacey Rose, EdD, MEd, MSW, core values program director, University of Maryland, Baltimore.
This event is for UMSON faculty and staff only.
Date: Monday, Sept. 29
Location: Southern Management Corp. Campus Center, Elm Room B OR Virtual
Morning Session: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 1 - 3 p.m.
Lunch will be served for in-person attendees for both sessions from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Morning Session – Living Our Core: Understanding and Embracing UMB’s Core Values
(Re)introducing the UMB’s Core Values through guided reflection, storytelling, and peer dialogue. Participants will explore what these values mean both personally and professionally and leave with a shared understanding of how these values form the foundation for a compassionate, ethical, and forward-thinking workplace culture at UMSON.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- identify and describe UMB’s four core value sets
- reflect on personal and professional alignment with these values
- recognize how shared values foster a stronger, more cohesive community.
Afternoon Session – Making Work Work: Applying UMB’s Core Values to Improve Our Day
Explore how UMB’s Core Values can reduce friction and improve experiences throughout the workday. Participants will identify stress points and develop value-based strategies to turn these growth areas into opportunities. Participants will build their capacity to use UMB’s Core Values as tools for communication, collaboration, and compassion, making daily work feel more purposeful and manageable.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- identify common challenges in their workday
- apply specific core values to reframe or respond to these challenges
- create a personalized strategy for aligning daily decisions with UMB’s core values.
About Facilitator Stacey Rose, EdD, MEd, MSW
Rose is an educator and advocate committed to building and supporting values-driven institutions that center equity, compassion, and collective well-being. As the core values program director at UMB, she leads efforts to embed and integrate UMB’s core values of Respect and Integrity, Well-Being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery across all seven schools and departments in service of our mission to improve the human condition and serve the public good of Maryland and society at-large. With more than a decade of experience in education and organizational change, Rose designs and facilitates transformative learning experiences that invite people to align daily actions with shared purpose.
