Oct. 13: Stand Together for Justice — Immigration and Ally Rights Teach-In
September 16, 2025Across UMB’s professional schools, we are united by a commitment to serve others — whether through law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, or social work. Our professions necessitate us to protect dignity, advance equity, and uphold justice, especially in times when those values are being combated. This has become one of those moments, and it calls us to come together.
The Immigration and Ally Rights Teach-In is a Universitywide opportunity to engage in our commitment to ethical practice and cultural humility and to advocate in favor of underserved populations. Students, faculty, and staff from every discipline are invited to join in this collective effort to strengthen our response to the challenges immigrant communities are currently facing.
Through interactive activities and conversation, we will:
- Clarify immigrant rights in clinical, classroom, workplace, and legal settings
- Strengthen strategies for assessing risks and responding when rights are threatened
- Explore how advocacy can be integrated into professional roles, field placements, and community practice
- Build solidarity across disciplines and connect with local partners, including the Baltimore Rapid Response Network and CASA
Monday, Oct. 13, 2025 | 12-2 p.m. | University of Maryland School of Social Work, 525 W. Redwood St., Baltimore
Please share this event and RSVP link with your peers and colleagues — we would like this space to include voices from across every professional school.
This is an opportunity to collaborate across expertise, to stand with one another, and to reaffirm our credibility in protecting those we work alongside.
