Traffic Impacts at South Greene and West Lombard Streets Due to Electrical Infrastructure Project
February 03, 2025Due to ongoing construction in support of the University of Maryland, Baltimore's (UMB) electrical distribution project, disruptions to pedestrian traffic, vehicular traffic, and parking are expected on South Greene and West Lombard streets in February and March 2025.
- Beginning Monday, Feb. 10, through Friday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, work will take place at the northeast corner of Greene and Lombard streets. Traffic will be reduced to the two southernmost lanes, with no left turns from Lombard onto Greene allowed. There will be no parking on the east or west side of South Greene Street south of the intersection with Lombard. Pedestrians will not be able to use the east-west crosswalk on the north side of the intersection. Additionally, the bus stop located along Lombard Street outside Davidge Hall will be moved approximately 20 feet further east. This work will create noise from excavation, saw cutting, jack hammering, and core drilling.

The electrical distribution project is helping to provide reliability to help UMB meet today’s demands while also building in additional capacity for future growth. To learn more about this project, visit the Facilities and Operations website. Please note that this project is separate from the University of Maryland Medical Center’s construction of the Roslyn and Leonard Stoler Center for Advanced Medicine, which is resulting in additional sidewalk closures along South Greene Street over the next three years.
