Important UMSON Baltimore Building Policies and Procedures for the Upcoming Semester
January 06, 2026As we prepare for the start of the new semester, Facilities and Operations would like to remind students, faculty, and staff of key building policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone:
OneCard Access:
- All individuals are required to badge into the building using their own UMB One Card ID.
No Tailgating:
- For security reasons, please refrain from holding doors open for others. Each person must badge in, independently.
- Students and visitors are not allowed access to the building prior to security starting their shift at 7:30 a.m.
Visitor Check-In:
- Visitors to the School of Nursing must sign in at the front desk using Lobby Guard and present a government-issued ID. Visitors who fail to comply will not be admitted.
Latex Balloons Are Prohibited:
- Latex balloons are not permitted in the UMSON building due to allergy considerations. Please avoid bringing them to campus.
Classroom and Meeting Space Furniture
- Chairs and furniture located in classrooms and conference rooms should not be removed or relocated. Room furniture is specifically intended for each space and ensures the proper seat count is available. Should you have a need for furniture, please enter a facilities help desk ticket (see request link below) to make your request.
Emergency Equipment:
- Automated External Defibrillators and First Aid kits are available on every floor near each main elevator in the new (south) nursing building.
Emergency Procedures:
- Please review the fire and emergency procedures to familiarize yourself with safety protocols.
Helpdesk Ticket Link:
- If you need assistance from the UMSON Facilities and Operations Management team, please bookmark our help request ticket link in your web browser for quick and convenient access: UMSON Help Request Form
Room Reservations:
- For room reservations, please visit the UMSON room request page.
- When submitting a request, scroll to the bottom of the page and select the appropriate reservation type based on your needs: internal meetings and events, external events, or course-related meetings. Choosing the correct option helps ensure your request is routed and process efficiently.
