The President’s Symposium and White Paper Project is partnering with MPower to create a unique opportunity for UMB students to participate in mentored research training while developing recommendations for the University as it explores best practices for cultivating an empathetic, team-based approach to meeting the community's health literacy needs.

Program participants will complete a student- or faculty-mentored research project at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) during summer 2020. Next, participants will engage in researching, authoring, and presenting a white paper at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus during the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters.

During the UMCP component, participants will complete a 400-hour project conducted over a 10-week period between May 26 and July 31. The UMB component will require an average 10-hour weekly commitment from Aug. 24 through April 30. The combined stipend for this program in $8,500.

*Participation in both the summer and academic year components is preferred, but not required.

Applications are now due by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1.
