Man's finger on mouse

Communication via email has increased due to a surge in teleworking. It is even more important to review the content of emails before clicking on any links or opening any attachments because scam and phishing emails are also on the rise.

To aid as a reminder, a new email security awareness feature is being implemented at UMB. Starting on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, email received from external email sources will display a gold banner at the top of each email with the following text:

CAUTION: This message originated from a non-UMB email system. Hover over any links before clicking and use caution reopening attachments.

This will be a reminder to avoid clicking on any unknown attachments and to hover over links to ensure they are pointing to legitimate sources.  The remaining content of the email will not be affected.
