Journal of Ethnic & Cultural Diversity in Social Work

Research associate professor Margo Candelaria, lead research project coordinator Laura Latta, lead research analyst Jenny Afkinich, and program director Kate Sweeney, all of the University of Maryland School of Social Work's Institute for Innovation and Implementation, and colleagues from the Indigo Cultural Center have a new paper published in the Journal of Ethnic & Cultural Diversity in Social Work.

The paper discusses recent efforts in the Maryland Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) program to deeply and systematically address equity and increase consultant capacity to understand and address racial inequity within early childhood settings. IECMHC is a national model with proven positive outcomes for children, teachers, and classrooms, as well as effectively addressing racial inequity in preschool suspension and expulsion rates.
