Please join the Social Work Community Outreach Service for an informative training on the 2020 census (click on the link below dates and times).

We have a responsibility to ensure that we are equipped with the correct information about the upcoming census as well as resources for those who'd like to learn more about the intricacies of the process.

Perpetuating false information about the census contributes to and perpetuates the pre-existing culture of distrust and fear between community and the local, state, and federal government. The results of the census have a significant impact on all of us.

From the communities we live and work in to the organizations and institutions we work for. The results of the census will directly impact a number of federal assistance programs, including but not limited to SNAP, TANF, TCA, Section 8 Housing Vouchers, Title I funding, and Community Development Block Grants.

Lunch will be provided for these trainings.

These trainings will cover:

  • The basics of the census and why it matters
  • How to report yourself to the census
  • How to assist others in self reporting
  • Questions
  • Scenarios of conversations you may encounter when advocating for the census
