Faculty Incentive Plan Updates
March 04, 2020We have completed a review of the UMSON Faculty Incentive Plan and have made revisions to the plan, which was initially approved Oct. 14, 2015. These revisions were also reviewed and approved by UMSON’s Governance Council and by the University of Maryland, Baltimore legal counsel.
The biggest changes are to the determination dates, now March 1 and Sept. 1, and implementation dates, now April 1 and Oct. 1.
Some advantages for these revised dates include:
- Payroll processing would not occur when campus controls the systems, thus avoiding processing delays.
- The new dates will utilize salary plus COLA, which typically take effect in July and January.
- Faculty receiving awards in July (such as our numerous MHEC awards) would only have to wait three months instead of six for incentive.
