CURE Scholars Program Seeks Federal Work-Study Student for Career Navigator Role
January 22, 2021The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) CURE Scholars Program is a pipeline program that prepares sixth- to 12th-grade students in Baltimore for competitive, lucrative, and rewarding research and health care careers at UMB and other health institutions in the region.
The UMB CURE Scholars Program is the first of its kind to attract middle school students into the National Cancer Institute's CURE pipeline and excite a future generation of health care providers and biomedical researchers.
THE CURE Career Navigator federal work-study student would assist in the administrative roles and responsibilities that focus on scholar outreach, engagement, and contact. This position involves:

Working with CURE programming staff to introduce 10th- and 11th-grade CURE Scholars to professional development opportunities

Tracking scholar contact information and updates via Google forms

Monitoring Career Navigator and scholar touchpoints

Working with programming staff to gauge scholar career interests and college options

Attending online team meetings and meetings with other programming staff

Assisting in the implementation of CURE's Career Navigators Program
Should in-person sessions resume the federal work-study student would be expected to attend in-person sessions.
