Bronwyn Mayden was a panelist in the Juneteenth

Each year, 150,000 Black and Brown children — disproportionally those with disabilities — are handcuffed, restrained, referred to law enforcement, and arrested in our nation’s schools. The 90-minute Juneteenth virtual event "Pipeline: An Essential Conversation" features community partners reflecting on how Baltimore is affected by these acts of inequality and racism experienced by our children, and what is being done to change that reality.

This winter/spring 2021 "From the Heights" virtual conversations season began against the backdrop of COVID-19, racial unrest, and actions striving for justice and healing — nothing has been “normal.” The final conversation hosted by Promise Heights and in partnership with Everyman Theatre examines the many challenges of this moment, while offering actionable insights that you can use today.

You can listen to the free Juneteenth conversation here. You can hear the WYPR-88.1FM/On the Record conversation about the event with Sheilah Kast that aired Wednesday, June 16.

You can view Everyman Theatre’s streaming of Dominique Morisseau’s renowned play, Pipeline, until July 11. (See below to register for tickets, with generous discounts for the UMB community*.)
